ABOUT FLAXTON STREET WROUGHT IRON

Situated within an interesting, pre-war building in Flaxton Street, Hartlepool, U.K., FLAXTON CRAFTWORKS is a working creative environment. FLAXTON CRAFTWORKS consists of bespoke woodworking, (Flaxton Joinery), an in-house metalwork artist, (Flaxton Street Wrought Iron), an alternative retail outlet, (The Other Zone), unique arts and crafts for sale and studio/work areas that may be available for rent.
 
FLAXTON CRAFTWORKS is the brainchild of established metalwork artist, Martin Brown who, with the help of several like-minded individuals, has managed to breathe new life into the building, offering a modern yet alternative approach to traditional skills. Every piece of work, whether it be Community, Commercial or Commission, will be made and finished to a high standard by established craftsmen. 
 
As an artist, Martin's "Dungeon Art" exhibition at a recent Whitby Gothic Weekend was very well received by critics and public alike. Martin's work has featured in Psyche, in Middlesbrough, Jeffrey West in Leeds, retail and artistic outlets throughout the U.K. and is becoming quite well known. His "TALL SHIPS EMBRACED" commemorative plaque is still on display at Navigation Point, Hartlepool Marina, Hartlepool and was featured in the local press, T.V. and radio during the 2010 Tall Ships celebrations in Hartlepool.
 
FLAXTON CRAFTWORKS will continue to produce high quality work in all mediums and will continue to be involved with encouraging art and creation within the community.
